Our Aims:
At Bushvale Presbyterian Church we want to worship the one, true, living God, and reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the local community. We desire to provide opportunity for worship, fellowship, service and spiritual growth. We try to teach, train and equip God's people to serve Him better. Here is a flavour of how we seek to achieve this.

Sunday Services

Congregational life centres on the Sunday Services. These are held:

September-June: 12.00 noon
July & August: 11.00 am

During services there are normally 5 singings, from the Psalter, the Church Hymnary (3rd Ed.), "Glory to God", and any other choruses and songs as appropriate. There are normally 2 Scripture Readings (one from the Old and one from the New Testament). There is opportunity for public and private prayer, a "children's address" and an expository Sermon.

Our worship is aided by a multimedia projector and more recently the praise group, which consists of singers, pianist, guitars, violin, flute, saxophone and clarinet. (in various combinations!)

Evening services are held on special occasions, including Communion, Harvest Thanksgiving, Christmas and "Young People’s Day"

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper (Communion) is held on the last Sundays of April and October each year, and also on the first Sunday of January. It is also held informally on the evening of Good Friday.

A “Midweek Meeting” for Bible Study, prayer and fellowship is held most Wednesday evenings in the Committee Room.

Other Activities

  Sunday School

Bushvale Sunday School is held each Sunday from 11.00 am, and is for boys and girls of primary school age and above. There is also Bible Class for boys and girls of secondary school age. There are currently 44 boys and girls on the roll. The teaching staff include Rev. Crowe (Senior Bible Class), Mark Adams, Rachael Crowe, Jennifer Stevenson, Glenda Wasson (Superintendent) and Elaine Wilson.
As well as the regular Sunday classes, an annual outing is held, and also a party at Christmas.

  "King's Club"

This is for young people aged 5-11, and is held on a Wednesday evening from 6.30-7.30 pm. Jesus is the "King", and this is the club for those young people who want to learn more about him!

  Youth Fellowship

Youth fellowship is for anyone aged 13+, and is run in co-operation with our neighbouring congregation of Roseyards. About 20 young people meet each Sunday evening for fellowship, praise, study and fun.

  Presbyterian Women's Association

The P.W.A. at Bushvale was founded in 1957, and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 1997. The current President (2005-2007) is Mrs. Honor Crowe. PWA meets on the second Tuesday night of each month.

  Bowling Club

Bushvale Bowling Club (indoor bowls), at their own admission, would be more for fun than for serious competition. However, friendly competition is held, both within the membership, and with other churches of all denominations within the locality. The Captain is Keith Rankin.

  Bushvale Newsletter

The Newsletter has been running now for a couple of years and we want to thank Mrs. Elaine Wilson for taking on the role of editor. The newsletter comes out every 3 or 4 months and contains information on Church activities, upcoming events, recipes, interviews, fun pages and lots more. If you wish to contribute anything towards the Newsletter please contact Mrs. Elaine Wilson.

         Ladies’ Keep Fit

The Ladies’ Keep Fit has been running now for a few weeks and is for ‘ladies’ of any age! Activities range from walking to aerobics to line dancing and much more. Why not bring a friend and come along for some fun!

         Men’s Fellowship Group

Men’s Fellowship Group is again another new group. If you are over 18 why not come along for some fun and fellowship.

*AS WITH ALL THE ABOVE GROUPS, PLANS AND ACTIVITIES COULD POSSIBLY VARY FROM MEETING TO MEETING. PLEASE CHECK IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT SHEET AND NEWS UPDATE LINK EACH WEEK*
