Bushvale Presbyterian Church is pleased to have had a long association
with the work of the Church beyond the shores of Ireland.
In the graveyard there is a grave with the following inscription "RACHEL
J.L.HENRY, B.A. , 24 years a devoted missionary of the Irish Presbyterian
Church in India.
Died in Borsad, March 22nd
,1932."
Within the PCI most missionaries are under the auspices of the Overseas
Board, although many also serve with other missionary organisations &
agencies.
We currently have one missionary:
Diane Cusick (Malawi,
Central Africa)
DIANE CUSICK

Diane has been a missionary in Malawi,
Central Africa, since September 1995. After a career
in a bank, she went to the Wives' School
of Zomba Theological College,
teaching craft, home economics, and a variety of subjects, with particular
responsibility for the crèche. She has recently completed Montessori
training in South Africa. Diane has moved to Mzuzu in the north,
where she is engaged in setting up a pre-school project.
Others’ Involvement:
During the summer of 2000, the Crowe family spent 8 weeks in Shortwood
United Church,
Kingston, Jamaica,
in pastoral ministry
Julie Moore has served on PCI outreach teams in Lucan, Lisburn,
Letterkenny and Uganda.
Mr. Robert Patton travelled to Moldova,
Eastern Europe, to help distribute gifts and aid in
October 2001. Robert has become an active member of the charity
‘Vision of Good Hope’ alongside Rev. Crowe and both have
returned to Moldova recently to see the continuing progress of the
orphanage the charity is building.
Mr. Jarlath Hegarty accompanied Mr. Patton recently to Moldova
to distribute clothes, toys, aid etc.
In the summer of 2004 and 2005 Rev. Crowe travelled to Romania
with a PCI outreach team to teach English.
David Crowe has served for the last three summers at Greystone’s
CSSM, Co.Wicklow.
Dawn Wilson has served in Ukraine
with an Exodus Summer Team.
The Crowe family have taken part in Greystones
CSSM in 2005, 2006 & 2007
Karolyn Moore and Rachael Crowe served on PCI teams in 2005 in Lucan and Newry respectively.
David Crowe spent two weeks in India
in January 2006, helping with a Leprosy Mission housing project in Tamil Nadu.
Mission for the summer of 2008
The Crowes will
be at Greystones CSSM in July.
A team of 5 will be going to visit Diane Cusick in Mzuzu, Malawi, from
6th - 20th August 2008
